Back in the day, Honda Element was quite an evolutionary vehicle. A small, funky-looking boxy SUV was a pretty rare thing back in the day. It was small and maneuverable, but also extremely practical. However, just like many other innovative models throughout history, it wasn’t particularly successful, in terms of sales numbers. However, these are different times and an SUV like this would probably be a great success in today’s market. That’s why Honda is seriously considering bringing back this nameplate. Moreover, some sources suggest that the new 2024 Honda Element is already in development and that will hit the market already in the next year.
With all that said, it is expected that the 2024 Honda Element going to follow the same path as the original when it comes to the base design approach. However, everything would be adapted to modern standards, so the new model may look similar, but it would ride on a completely new platform and feature completely new mechanics, along with a whole bunch of the latest tech features.
2024 Honda Element Design
So, the first thing that comes to mind is the overall design. The new 2024 Honda Element wouldn’t be significantly different in terms of proportions and base design approach. The boxy shape would feature similar dimensions, which would indicate a close relationship with models like HR-V. On the other hand, the front end and the rest of the SUV would be based on completely new aesthetics, though some bits may be taken from the Passport. To some point, this could be based on the brand’s current design language, but keep in mind that this model has always been pretty unique, so the new 2024 Honda Element could also be full of exclusive styling details.
On the other hand, as we’ve mentioned, things would be significantly different when it comes to mechanics. Modern times require a modern technical approach, so the 2024 Honda Element would share parts with some of its contemporaries. The aforementioned HR-V is the first model that comes to mind because it is of a similar size. It would borrow suspension and chassis, as well as the engine.
Interior
The cabin design always played an important role in Element’s history. So, things wouldn’t be any different in this case. Once again, we would see a spacious and practical interior, thanks to the model’s super-squarish aesthetics. Two rows of seats and a generous cargo area come to mind first, but let’s not forget those sliding rear doors from the original. They could also be used again.
However, the problem with the original was in its build quality. Its interior looked super cheap, even by standards back in the day. So, Honda engineers will have to pay more attention to the dashboard design, materials and other things. Some design solutions would be borrowed from Honda’s contemporary design language, but a couple of unique solutions, to accentuate the model’s unique design approach.
Of course, let’s not forget modern tech features, which the new Element would be full of. The same is with advanced safety systems, which are pretty much a must in today’s automotive market.
2024 Honda Element Engines
As for the powertrain, there are few possibilities for the 2024 Honda Element. The good-old 2.4-liter inline-four probably won’t be used. Instead, a 1.5-liter turbo-four with around 180 horsepower seems like a proper choice for a vehicle of this size and weight. That engine would come coupled with a CVT.
Besides the gas-only version, we presume the company would also offer a hybrid mode. That version would use a familiar system, based on a 2.0-liter inline-four, which includes a couple of electric motors as well. We presume the same version that’s used in Civic would be a good choice, with a combined output of 180 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Once again, the powertrain would come coupled with a CVT.
2024 Honda Element Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2024 Honda Element could arrive already in the next year, even though the officials are still quiet. As for the price, we presume that something like 25.000 for the base model would be appropriate.
