2024 Toyota Tundra HD Specs, Price, and Release Date

The new Toyota Tundra has been around for a while and after a pretty good reception, both by the experts and the crowd, it looks like the Japanese manufacturer is thinking of expanding the offer. It looks like Toyota wants to finally come out of its comfort zone and offer something that’s not just a regular half-ton pickup. In other words, it looks like the 2024 Toyota Tundra HD is coming!

Of course, this is all unofficial for now but we have heard this from different sources, which clearly indicates that something is cooking in Toyota’s kitchen. What that could be, it’s hard to describe in detail, but we are thinking of a genuine heavy-duty pickup, which would come with all kinds of upgrades and offer next-level capabilities. Let’s take a more detailed look:

2024 Toyota Tundra HD Design

Of course, one of the first things to consider is the overall design and we really don’t expect bigger surprises in this aspect. We expect Toyota to follow the path of the Big Three and bring similar upgrades, which mostly refer to the chassis and suspension upgrades, which would make the truck more rugged and increase the max towing and hauling capacities.

We presume that Toyota would first go for a 3/4-ton  pickup, for a model that would compete with models like Ford F-250, Chevy Silverado 2500HD and Ram 2500HD. So, the goal is, we presume, to make the pickup able to tow and haul as much as the American competition. But what’s important to mention is that Toyota probably won’t go for a diesel version. Instead, the focus will be on the new hybrid powertrain, so the max towing will actually be compared to gas versions of pickups from the Big Three, which would mean a max towing capacity of around 17,000 pounds.

Besides mechanical upgrades, the 2024 Toyota Tundra HD would also bring a couple of visual enhancements, we presume, to accentuate its heavy-duty character. An even bolder and more rugged face is what comes to mind first, but let’s not forget dual rear wheels either.

Interior

As for the interior design, we don’t believe that bigger modifications could happen. The overall layout should be the same as in the case of standard Tundra, and that also refers to cab and bed configurations. With the stylish interior the half-ton Tundra has, it’s pretty much for sure there will be no changes, though there’s always a possibility to see some modifications in terms of color schemes, materials etc.

On the other hand, the half-tone Tundra is a very well-equiped pickup, so nothing less is expected in this case. That means even the most basic models should come with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, the ”Hey Toyota” virtual assistant, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, three USB ports and many other convenience features.

2024 Toyota Tundra HD Engines

When it comes to 2024 Toyota Tundra HD specs, we presume that Toyota won’t go for V8 engines as the rivals do. Instead, we will see the same turbo V6 as in the light-duty model, though without the most basic 348-horsepower variant on offer. No, the base model will feature the one that puts out around 389 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. That’s less power but more torque compared to entry-level variants of the classmates.

And while other HD pickups also come with diesel engines, the Tundra HD will rather come with a hybrid system, with a respectable max output of around 437 horsepower and 583 pound-feet of torque, which is not exactly on par with oil burners in terms of the max twist but isn’t all that bad either.

Of course, both powertrains would come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Toyota Tundra HD Release Date and Price

When it comes to the 2024 Toyota Tundra HD release date and price, many believe that the HD Tundra could arrive already in the next year. As for the price, we presume it would be similar to rivals, which would mean between 45,000 and 50,000 dollars for the entry-level models.
