Spy photos don’t lie – the 2025 Hyundai Tucson will be redesigned. Test mules are already on the streets. Hyundai is launching the new generation of the compact crossover every few years, with an update in the meantime. The fourth generation of the most popular vehicle in the family was launched in 2020. So, the 2025 YM might even bring the fifth series.
Prototypes are hiding changes behind the camouflage. We can’t tell precisely what the 2025 Hyundai Tucson will look like. Every time the Korean manufacturer is redesigning its vehicles, there are big styling updates, outside and inside. The upcoming Tucson might be slightly larger.
Under the hood remains a 2.5-liter unit for the US market. There are also 1.5-liter and 2.0-liter mills available in some markets. A hybrid is definitely worth of investment thanks to impressive gas mileage. Tucson PHEV is the ultimate upgrade. The EV is not available, yet. Of course, in some markets, Hyundai installs diesel mills.
2025 Hyundai Tucson Changes
The upcoming small SUV is coming with significant changes. Test mules are out and spy photos caught the vehicle on the streets. Besides the existence of the changes, prototypes are not unveiling too much. Experts say the crossover looks somehow bigger. Until the official release, we won’t know the precise dimensions. Camouflage covers the front and rear fascia. Of course, we can expect fresh colors, extra accessories and possible new trim levels.
The new Tucson will keep old engines. They are efficient and reliable, so small improvements are enough. The US edition of the popular crossover is getting a 2.5-liter four-cylinder unit. It can deliver 187 hp and 178 lb-ft, an 8-speed automatic transmission is standard, and the 2025 Hyundai Tucson needs 9.5 seconds to reach 60 mph. Fuel economy is not bad for a non-hybrid configuration with 29 mpg combined. A small crossover is not meant to tow a lot – Tucson can pull a maximum of 2,000 pounds.
In other markets there are a few interesting setups. For example, a 1.6-liter turbocharged I4 is producing 180 hp and 195 lb-ft. This model is faster than the US edition, sprinting 0-60 mph in 9 seconds. A 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox is a power router. Also, you can find the Tucson with a 2.0-liter mill and 155 hp. Although bigger, the engine is not more impressive than 1.6 and 2.5 displacements.
Of course, diesel units are still used in some markets. A 1.6-liter four-cylinder mill is probably the most popular. With a manual transmission, it returns 115 hp and 185 lb-ft, while an automatic DCT setup creates 135 hp and 235 pound-feet. A 2.0-liter plant is also available with 185 hp and 310 lb-ft of twist. Diesel engines are not as powerful as petrol units, nor do they sprint quicker, but the advantages over gasoline powertrains are increased towing capacity and better mileage. Unfortunately, these two are not coming to the US.
2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid and PHEV
For the 2025 Hyundai Tucson Hybrid, the Korean company exploits a 1.6-liter petrol engine. Combined with electric unit, the system produces 226 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. The mileage jumps to 38 mpg. Hyundai didn’t break into 40 mpg club, but those are still serious figures. Plus, a plug-in hybrid variant is available with similar numbers, plus you can use only the battery as a power source. In this case, the range of the vehicle in EV mode is 33 miles. This is where we can expect changes when the 2025 YM debuts.
2025 Hyundai Tucson N
The 2025 Hyundai Tucson N is a performance-oriented configuration. However, it is yet to debut although fans expect it for a long time. The N-Line is a package without engine upgrades. Sport upgrades make the crossover look more aggressive. There are unique exterior and interior parts, such as the grille, wheels and seats. You’ll also get the panoramic roof and premium audio.
The Tucson N also comes with enhanced performance. The crossover can pick a 2.0-liter turbo-four engine with 275-285 hp as the powertrain and it will boost its sporty nature. This is going to be the fastest Tucson in the lineup. However, not as quick as Elantra or i30 Fastback. Estimations say the compact crossover could accelerate 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds, while sedan and hatchback do it in less than 5.
Release Date and Price
Test mules are there, so the release date is very close. After changes, the price with fees will be very close to $30,000. A few years ago, this was the price of a mid-size SUV. Now, you can get only the base version of the compact crossover, while all others cost more. A hybrid was around $33,000, and expect it around $35,000 next year. The PHEV system will start above $40,000. Hybrid configurations offer higher trim levels from the base setup, plus some unique packages, such as Blue Hybrid. The release date of the 2025 Hyundai Tucson N is still unknown.
