2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Preview: Trackhawk Model; V8 Engine; New Trim Levels

The mid-cycle update is coming, but we still don’t have a confirmation that the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee is introducing changes. The popular SUV is upgraded with a plug-in hybrid engine, so the redesign would complete the overhaul. The Grand Cherokee is a big vehicle that can take big families safely to any destination. You just need to configure it properly. There are base and premium variants, a hybrid system, off-road package, and even the Hellcat engine comeback is possible.

The new generation from 2022 has definitely shown improvements over the previous version. The interior is not only spacious but also cozy, thanks to upscale materials and advanced features. More safety options became standard, and there are also some advanced optional upgrades. The Uconnect multimedia introduced the next generation. Still, Jeep needs to fix some glitches and bugs. Also, the third row is tight. We can’t complain about the performance, but it comes with a cost – all the engine options are pretty thirsty.

Speaking of performance and fuel consumption, the Hellcat engine was a stunning option for the SUV in the past. It could deliver 707 horsepower, but the mileage was under 13 mpg combined. Cost of the production went up, sales dropped and the company decided to focus on more profitable versions.

The 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk might be back as a limited edition. It won’t improve sales, but having such a model in the lineup is like an ad to the rest of the fleet. If you plan to buy it – start saving. The Trackhawk model will cost at least $90,000.

The company replaced the Hellcat unit with a more efficient and cleaner option. The 4xe debuted on the Wrangler SUV and many experts predicted that the Grand Cherokee would be the next one to offer the plug*in hybrid system. And they were right.

A 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine is the base powertrain. A pair of electric motors support the drive system, which is now ready to deliver 375 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed auto transmission sends power to all wheels. If you use a gasoline engine, the mileage is 23 mpg. With electric batteries helping, it rises to 56 MPGe. You can also drive the 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe on electric power. The range is 25 miles.

Pricing

There are numerous options for the 2025 Grand Cherokee. The base MSRP will be higher, especially with mid-cycle changes included and experts believe the SUV is not going to be sold under $40k. Various Laredo and Altitude packages are available up to $50,000. The PHEV system is already above $60,000 and the new one will add some value. For fans of the off-road drive, Overland is the best choice. Still, the Wrangler jumps in as a way better option.

Currently, there is no V8 engine offered for the Grand Cherokee, but the upcoming update will have to bring back one of them. A 5.7-liter is the most likely solution, but the 6.4-l mill with nearly 500 hp, previously available on the SRT model, is also a possibility.
