Q7 is still the largest SUV by a German carmaker. The Q8 debuted, but it is a coupe, and the Q9 is not ready yet, although you can hear a lot of rumors about its release date. It seems the focus is on the next-gen 2025 Audi Q7, rather than a full-size luxury SUV.
The redesign is certain. We saw spy photos of the vehicle. Although camouflage is covering most of the body fans could recognize the SUV. Plus, it is time for big changes, since the current generation is entering its 10th anniversary. With an impact the Q7 previously made, as well as the compact Q5, we are eagerly waiting for its debut.
Audi will have to bring something special for the upcoming Q7. The mid-size market is becoming more popular, and there are company’s archrivals BMW and Mercedes dominating the luxury market with X5 and GLE.

The 2025 Audi Q7 was spied on in Germany, but the company is not unveiling details. The test mule seems to sit higher than its predecessors, which means the carmaker revisited the suspension setup. Heavy camo is covering the body, hiding details and changes from fans. The SUV seems to be the same size as before. Audi could revisit the architecture. Hybrid engines are overtaking the market and the upcoming Q7 will have to support such drivetrains, and in the future become an EV.
The interior will be new. Spy photos couldn’t catch what it will look like, but the Q7 is about to present a lot of novelties and innovations. However, we are looking if it gets more room in the third row, which will make it more competitive. Since the size is pretty similar to the outgoing version, we doubt designers can do a lot about the legroom in the back.
2025 Audi Q7 Powertrain
We are pretty sure that the 2025 Audi Q7 is bringing back an old lineup of engines. A 2.0-liter turbo-four engine is definitely not a powertrain for a large luxury vehicle. It is potent, the SUV performs nicely, but again – the Q7 is a luxury vehicle and needs something special. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder unit fixes the situation, but its outputs are still not too impressive compared to some other rivals. You can get 335 hp and 369 lb-ft on the current edition and engineers won’t be squeezing too much more power of it.
Of course, there is a high-end SQ7 with a mighty V8 engine. That is exactly what we want to see from a luxury Audi SUV. With it, you get 500 hp, 568 lb-ft and acceleration time 0-60 mph is 4.3 seconds. The next-gen SQ7 will be lighter and even faster. Don’t expect miracles, but even a 0.1-second drop is a great achievement in this class.
The main upgrade for the 2025 Audi Q7 should be a hybrid drivetrain. Such powerplants are pretty popular nowadays and the German company is enjoying the success of the Q5 hybrid. Also, they plan a raid with electric vehicles based on the e-Tron platform. Before that happens, Audi will test the market with a few hybrid units and PHEV setups.
