2025 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid: What to Expect

It’s been like yesterday when Hyundai introduced its largest and most prestigious SUV, the Palisade. Now, it’s been around for almost five years and it looks like the Korean manufacturer is already working on a redesign, even though the mid-cycle refresh came with the 2023 model year. The next generation is already in development and with it, another big novelty is about to come – the 2025 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid.

At this point, most details are unknown. The company keeps this a secret, so we can only speculate about the electrification. Still, it’s obvious that the current V6, although great, is one of the rare aspects that could be better. We are living in an era of massive electrification and the Palisade needs a hybrid powertrain to retain its position on the market and keep its superb reputation.

While it’s still pretty early to talk about the launch date, we expect this to happen sometime in 2025.

As mentioned, aside from a redesign, the biggest novelty that should come with is the new powertrain, electrified. The 2025 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid will bring this SUV to the next level, making it more efficient and, probably, more capable than the old V6 which, to be honest, still does a pretty good job. But more and more rivals are getting electrified. It’s not just about the Highlander anymore, and that’s why Hyundai is preparing something really interesting.

First of all, all of our reliable sources suggest a plug-in hybrid setup. And, it definitely won’t be the one from Santa Fe. Although great, it’s simply not enough capable for such a large SUV, with its max output of 261 horsepower. Instead, the Korean manufacturer will have to use something bigger than the 1.6-liter turbo-four. Most likely, the new system will be based on a 2.5-liter turbo-four engine, which indicates that the maximum output will go way over 300 horsepower.

Besides strong performance, the 2025 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid will also be efficient, while a decently sized battery should ensure competitive range in the EV mode. In our humble opinion, that should be at least 30 miles.

But even with the new hybrid powertrain on offer, we are not sure if Hyundai is going to drop the gas-only version from the offer. We presume that the V6 could carry on with some revisions, while some sources also speculate about the 2.5-turbo-four, which would offer around 280 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. Those are quite adequate numbers for the class.

The new hybrid version will be part of a full redesign. The second generation of this mid-size SUV is expected to bring many other novelties. Of course, the new styling is one of the first things that come to mind. At this point, we can’t talk details, but it’s easy to presume that some inspiration may be taken from the most recent Hyundai models. In any case, we expect the new model to look a little bit more rugged than before, with a little bit more aggressive front end and a little bit more muscles on the sides.

As for the size, the outgoing generation features quite typical dimensions for the segment, so we don’t believe things could change drastically. Still, seeing a little bit longer wheelbase is always nice. As for the mechanics, further chassis and suspension upgrades are certainly coming, while some sources also suggest an off-road-oriented version, which would feature higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires, upgraded all-wheel drive and similar things.

Interior

The same thing is with the interior design. The current model still looks pretty nice, thanks to the combination of nice materials and elegant design. We can say that the original model set some pretty high standards, so the expectations from the new model are pretty high. We expect to see even nicer materials and even better build quality, along with the latest tech features, including a large infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster and all kinds of connectivity features.

The current generation is already a quite spacious SUV, with three rows of seats and a seating capacity of 8. Still, the third row is typically tight for the segment, so it would be great to see some improvements in this aspect, and that may be achieved with the aforementioned wheelbase stretch. The same thing is true with the cargo area, though we have to say that the current model already features quite competitive numbers in this aspect.

2025 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid Release Date

The 2025 Hyundai Palisade Hybrid should arrive sometime in 2025. We presume that the price could be a little bit higher compared to the current model, which starts at around 38.000 dollars. Of course, the key competition will remain the same, in the form of models like Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, Chevy Traverse etc.
