2024 Chevy Tahoe EV: What to Expect

Chevy’s full-size SUV has always been closely related to the company’s popular full-size pickup, Silverado. And now when the all-electric iteration of the well-known pickup is here, it’s just a matter of time before we see an all-electric iteration of Tahoe. According to the latest reports, this is going to happen already in the next year, with the 2024 Chevy Tahoe EV. Although the officials are still quiet, the new SUV has already been imagined a couple of times and the rendering photos can be found everywhere.

And while the stying and similar aspects of the design are yet to be announced, some things about this SUV are quite easy to predict, especially when it comes to the platform, drivetrain, and chassis. Therefore, we will focus primarily on these things in the upcoming paragraphs but we won’t skip other aspects of the upcoming model either.

So, the first thing that comes to mind about the 2024 Chevy Tahoe EV is the drivetrain, battery etc. In this aspect, we don’t expect surprises, as the new SUV will ride on the new BT1 platform, designed for electric cars on purpose. That platform already underpins a couple of models, not just the all-electric Silverado, but also the already-launched all-electric Hummer.

In the case of Tahoe, we presume that the drivetrain will be shared with the pickup sibling. The Silverado has already been presented in two variants regarding max output, with base versions featuring a dual-motor setup with a total output of 510 horsepower and standard all-wheel drive. For comparison, that’s 90 horsepower more compared to the most capable version of the current, gas-powered Tahoe, so there is no doubt that performances are going to be more than respectable. The all-electric pickup is also available in a variant with 754 horsepower, so we see no reason why the SUV version wouldn’t be offered with such a setup as well.

Battery and Range

Considering that platform and the closest siblings, it’s super-easy to conclude that the 2024 Chevy Tahoe EV will also feature the company’s latest Ultium battery technology, which promises not just a respectable range, but also great charging speed. This architecture supports battery capacity of up to 200 kW/h and while it’s still early for exact predictions regarding Tahoe’s capacity, we presume that the company will aim for a max range that exceeds 300 miles, while some kind of long-range version could be offered as well.

As for the charging speed, this 800-volt architecture has pretty impressive performances to offer.  We expect that the 2024 Chevy Tahoe EV, with the fast DC charger, will be able to add 100 miles in just 10 minutes.

As for the exterior design, it’s still early to talk about details. The new SUV is yet to be presented but some of the renderings give a pretty clear picture of what to expect from the 2024 Chevy Tahoe EV. After all, the Silverado EV has been presented and considering that the two models have always been featuring similar designs, we expect the same thing from the all-electric iterations. The front end should look pretty much the same, while the overall shape shouldn’t go far from the current model. The overall proportions should be quite similar though the all-electric iteration could easily feature an even longer wheelbase than the current model.

As for the interior design, we presume that the dashboard design could look the same as in the all-electric pickup, with a couple of massive screens and a relatively simplistic overall design. Of course, three rows of seats will be part of the standard seating configuration, with the ability to accommodate adults in all of them. A respectable cargo area is expected too.

2024 Chevy Tahoe EV Release Date and Price

The 2024 Chevy Tahoe EV is yet to be confirmed, but we believe it could arrive already in the next year. As for the price, we presume base versions could cost around 70,000 dollars. The rumored all-electric Ford Excursion could be one of the key competitors.
