Not so long ago, the Korean carmaker amazed the automotive world with a model called Telluride. Introduced in 2019, this is still the largest Kia we’ve ever seen, but that size is not even close to the most impressive thing about it. This is such a well-designed SUV, the total package, strong in all fields. And therefore, it doesn’t surprise it quickly because one of the most popular models in its class. Moreover, it is also highly appreciated among car experts and is often considered one of the best mid-size SUVs on the market. But the Korean carmaker doesn’t stop on that, as the 2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid has just been rumored.
What does this actually mean, aside from the electrified powertrain, it’s hard to say. The current model is five years old and considering that things on the market are changing pretty fast, it doesn’t surprise that some sources suggest that the electrified version is going to be part of something bigger, of a complete overhaul. Once again, the officials are still quiet.
2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid Powertrain
Redesigned or not, the next year’s model is expected to come with a brand-new, hybrid powertrain. The current model is sold only with a massive 3.8-liter V6. It’s capable enough to move this large SUV but doesn’t stand out in any way, especially not in terms of fuel economy. Many believe that an SUV like Telluride would be a way better proposal with something more efficient and that’s why a 2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid could be such an important milestone.
At this point, details are still unavailable. Moreover, the problem is that the company doesn’t have such a large hybrid powertrain in its portfolio at the moment. The most powerful system is the one with 261 horsepower, based on a 1.6-liter turbo-four. In theory, that could be enough for an SUV of this size and weight, but the benefits in terms of fuel economy probably wouldn’t be particularly high. That’s why we presume that the company is working on something bigger and more capable. It could easily be a hybrid based on a 2.5-liter turbo-four. In that case, the max output could easily go up to 400 horsepower, which would definitely put this SUV much closer to the premium segment.
2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid Design
As for the overall design, many things will depend on the company’s decision about the redesign. The current generation has been around since 2019, so it’s not that old. Moreover, it was refreshed last year, so it’s quite fresh and competitive. That’s why many believe that the 2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid is actually about to carry on with the same design and that the hybrid powertrain is going to be introduced and again used for the next generation, in the years to come.
Meanwhile, we are about to see a familiar design, which besides attractive aesthetics also offers a well-designed chassis, with a nice suspension setup. The ride is very comfortable and relaxed but, at the same time, the handling doesn’t feel dull at all. Also worth mentioning is that the Telluride maneuvers pretty well in corners and actually feels like a smaller vehicle than it actually is.
Interior
The same thing is with the interior design. The 2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid most likely won’t receive a full redesign and therefore, we expect to see a familiar cabin layout. This is one of the nicer interiors in the class, with elegant aesthetics that are in perfect synergy with a good portion of tech features. Moreover, most areas are wrapped with soft-touch and other quality materials, while attention to detail is also at a pretty high level.
Besides style and luxury, the Telluride also offers a high level of practicality, with three spacious rows of seats. Even the third row is quite useful, while the cargo area is also respectable for the class, with 21 cubic feet of room behind the third row, 46 cubic feet behind the second row and 87 cubic feet in total.
Finally, there is a pretty long list of standard equipment, which includes goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, a Wi-Fi hot spot, satellite radio, Bluetooth, five USB ports and a six-speaker audio system, dual-zone automatic climate control, push-button start, remote start and proximity keyless entry. Among upgrades, you can find wireless device charging, an additional USB port, two 110-volt household-style power outlets, an in-vehicle intercom, a dual-screen rear-seat entertainment system, a 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a digital keycard, ambient LED interior lighting, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a universal garage door opener and a sunroof.
2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid Release Date and Price
We presume that the 2025 Kia Telluride Hybrid could arrive by the end of the next year. It’s still early for price estimations, but we are pretty sure it will start at over 40,000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like the Toyota Highlander Hybrid, as well as the rumored hybrid version of Honda Pilot.
