2025 Toyota RAV4 Redesign: Everything We Know So Far

Although it still looks quite fresh and appealing, the world’s best-selling SUV is ready to get a full redesign. According to the latest reports, that will happen in the next year, when the 2025 Toyota RAV4 will come all-new, with a full load of changes. At this point, the officials are still quiet, but we are pretty sure we can predict some of the key things of this redesign.

As we are talking about a super-popular model, it’s quite obvious that Toyota won’t change anything radically. Instead, we count on an evolution of the current design, with further improvements regarding aesthetics, ride quality and, most importantly, interior quality. Furthermore, we expect to see some notable changes under the hood, as various sources suggest that the 2025 Toyota RAV4 is about to come only as a hybrid. The new model should hit showrooms already in the second half of the year.

So, as we mentioned, the 2025 Toyota RAV4 is expected to bring changes that are rather evolutionary. Simply put, the outgoing model sells too well to make Toyota think about some radical change in approach. Therefore, it doesn’t surprise that most sources suggest the same TNGA-K platform, with minor updates only. We presume some minor tweaks in terms of suspension and chassis are about to happen, but the overall layout is about to remain the same. The outgoing model is already pretty comfortable, but we could see some tweaks that would make the ride more engaging, such as an upgraded steering system and similar things.

As for the exterior design, we presume that the new model will keep similar proportions, with similar wheelbase, length and height. The width might change a bit, in order to improve stability, passenger room and other things. Styling-wise, some digital renderings already appeared on the internet, showing a sleeker but more aggressive design compared to the current one. Some sources even suggest a bit of a sloping roof layout, making the new model look like a coupe SUV, but we are not sure if Toyota wants to change things all that much and risk the excellent position it currently holds on the market.

Interior

Of course, the new interior is probably the most anticipated thing about this redesign, for several reasons. Most experts agree that the cabin layout is the weakest point of the current generation. The dashboard and the rest of the cabin look nice but not as good as younger rivals. Models like the Hyundai Tucson or VW Tiguan look way more upscale, with more attractive aesthetics and nicer materials, so we may expect the new 2025 Toyota RAV4 to go in the same direction. A new look, new tech features and a notable improvement in terms of the build quality are some of the things that come to mind. Finally, let’s not forget about the sound insulation, which definitely needs significant improvements to keep the RAV4 relevant on the market.

Considering that the new generation is about to feature similar dimensions to the outgoing model, it’s easy to predict that the amount of cabin space is going to remain the same. This would mean a couple of quite spacious and comfortable rows of seats, which accommodate adults with ease. The same thing is with the cargo area, which may not feature class-leading numbers when it comes to the overall cargo volume, but definitely is among class leaders when it comes to cargo space behind the second row.

2025 Toyota RAV4 Engines

This aspect could bring some of the bigger changes for the next year. Namely, there is a big change to see the gas-only version no longer on offer. Instead, the 2025 Toyota RAV4 would come exclusively in a hybrid layout. Therefore, the base model would come with the upgraded version of the well-known and proven system based on a 2.5-liter inline-four engine, which includes a couple of electric motors. The system has just received an update and we presume that the same version that was introduced in the next-generation Camry will find its place under the hood of the new 2025 Toyota RAV4. The new version puts out 225 horsepower in standard configuration and 232 horsepower with the additional electric motor on the rear axle.

The plug-in hybrid is also expected and we presume we could see further updates and upgrades, which would translate into more power and better EV range. Some sources even speculate about the implementation of the new battery technology, which would ensure up to 100 of range in the EV mode. Finally, there are rumors about the high-performance hybrid, based on a turbo-four engine and with a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
